We were first appointed in 2022 by arts trust Out of the Blue to advise on the conservation of and alterations to this former Victorian school building in Edinburgh's Abbeyhill.
The ambition is to make the building a centre of excellence for craft in the City and build on it's reputation for pottery in particular. The building has suffered from a lack of maintenance and is need of repair. We have produced a complete fabric survey and organised special structural surveys. This has led to a feasibility study and costing for the repair using traditional conservation techniques.
