This is a new house that ZONE have designed for an experienced self-builder on a former car park behind the grade A listed Claremont Crescent. The site had a history of failed planning applications and ZONE's approach was to propose a mews-type building which is a recogniseable typology for the New Town. Planning consent was granted in the winter of 2020 and construction started on site in the spring of 2021.
ZONE designed the house to be straightforward to build using a timber frame kit with stone cladding. To the rear, south facing garden the house is much more open. The house is being designed to passive house standards with MVHR and high insulation/low airtightness.
